JÖRG WIDMANN CELEBRATED ACROSS ASIA
15/11/2024
Much acclaimed in the renowned music centres of Asia, Jörg Widmann made his highly praised debut at the helm of Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra conducting the Korean premiere of his work Con brio and Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 in Seoul in September 2024. In mid-November, he continues to build on his great success with an eagerly awaited return to National Symphony Orchestra Taiwan. Two different programmes in a fortnight see him conducting a variety of his works — the Taiwanese premiere of his orchestral composition Danse macabre being one of the highlights — combined with Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 or Mozart’s symphonies No.40 and No.41. Concerts take place on 23 and 30 November at National Concert Hall in Taipei and 1 December in Miaoli.
In June 2025 Jörg Widmann returns to Asia again — to join forces in Japan first with Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa for works by Mendelssohn and his composition Versuch über die Fuge with Soprano Claron McFadden on 21 June at Ishikawa Ongakudo Concert Hall. The week after he is presenting with NHK Symphony Orchestra the Japanese premieres of his trumpet concerto Towards Paradise with Håkan Hardenberger and Danse macabre at the Concert Music for Tomorrow in Tokyo.
