Jörg Widmann has just been named a member of The Royal Swedish Academy of Music in consideration of his merits to musical art. The news rounds off a very busy and exciting 2023/24 season – his first season as Principal Guest Conductor of NDR Radiophilharmonie and recent conducting debuts with Bamberger Symphoniker and Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR alongside an all-Widmann programme with Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks last week featuring an array of this works at Munich’s Herkulessaal on 28 June — Armonica, Danse macabre and Towards Paradise (Labyrinth VI) with Håkan Hardenberger.
