Under the baton of conductor Tianyi Lu, BBC Symphony Orchestra performs the UK premiere of Francisco Coll’s new Cello Concerto featuring soloist Sol Gabetta on 18 August. The Cello Concerto, which showcases a vibrant range of dances from tango to waltz, is a BBC co-commission and marks the latest artistic collaboration between Coll and Gabetta. Their partnership began in 2018 when Gabetta premiered Coll’s Double Concerto Les Plaisirs Illuminés alongside Patricia Kopatchinskaja. The duo’s recording of this piece, with Coll conducting, won the concerto prize at the 2022 BBC Music Magazine Awards.
