Sol Gabetta performs with Klaus Mäkelä for her debut with Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Following her New York Philharmonic debut in early March 2024 with Martinů’s Cello Concerto No.1, Sol Gabetta graces the stage in Chicago this week with three concerts for her debut with Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 4 to 6 April.
Gabetta’s performance of Shostakovich’s captivating Cello Concerto No.1 with the orchestra marks a momentous occasion as she joins her cherished colleague, conductor Klaus Mäkelä who was announced as the Orchestra’s next Music Director, adding to the excitement of the event at this upcoming new chapter in CSO’s 133-year history.
Following their performances in Chicago, Gabetta and Mäkelä reunite once again at The Cleveland Orchestra. Together, they ignite the stage with performances of Elgar’s Cello Concerto in three concerts from 11 to 13 April.
