Xian Zhang begins second season as Music Director of New Jersey Symphony Orchestra
29/9/2017
Following a highly successful first season as Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Xian Zhang gets her second off to a flying start this autumn, conducting no fewer than 10 concerts over the course of a single month at venues across the North American state.
Three programmes will be presented, beginning with Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, Piano Concerto No.5 “Emperor” (with soloist Jeremy Denk) and Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique on 7 and 8 October.
The following week (12 – 15 October) Zhang is joined by cellist Alban Gerhardt for Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, performed alongside Kernis’ Musica Celestis and Beethoven’s Symphony No.6.
Beethoven also graces the third programme’s concerts on 2 – 5 November – here the Coriolan Overture and Symphony No.5 frame Bartók’s Piano Concerto No.3, with soloist Conrad Tao.
