Xian Zhang debuts with China NCPA Orchestra
9/6/2017
Following her hugely successful tour of Asia earlier this year, Xian Zhang returns to China on 28 June to make her debut with the China NCPA Orchestra at the NCPA Concert Hall in Beijing.
Zhang conducts the orchestra in Chen Qigang’s Iris Dévoilée, which combines three Chinese instrumental soloists – Nan Wang (Erhu), Jia Li (Pipa) and Jing Chang (Guzheng) — and three sopranos — Chen Xiaoduo, Meng Meng and Siija Lu – and is the same piece that Zhang will bring to this year’s BBC Proms with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
The concert on 28 June also features Tchaikovsky’s Hamlet overture-fantasia and Francesca da Rimini.
