Kathleen Kim makes her debut at Oper Frankfurt as Zerbinetta
9/1/2015
This week on the stage of Oper Frankfurt Kathleen Kim, the Korean soprano described by one critic as a “tiny dynamo”, makes her company debut in Brigitte Fassbaender’s production of Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. Following great success in the same role at The Metropolitan Opera, the Frankfurt audience can watch Kim’s Zerbinetta on 18, 24 & 31 January under conductor Hartmut Keil.
This debut follows other European firsts for Kathleen Kim: L’enfant et les sortilèges under Charles Dutoit at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann) in both Richard Jones’ acclaimed production at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and under Stéphane Denève at Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona.
Elsewhere this season, Kim debuts at La Monnaie as Oscar (Un ballo in maschera) and returns to San Diego Opera as Madame Mao (Nixon in China), one of her most celebrated roles.
