Kathleen Kim and Elizabeth DeShong return to Glyndebourne
5/8/2016
Kathleen Kim and Elizabeth DeShong both return to the Glyndebourne Festival as Tytania and Hermia respectively in Peter Hall’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Conducted by Jakub Hrůša and Jeremy Bines, performances run from 11 to 28 August.
These performances mark Kathleen’s return to the role of Tytania following her hugely successful run at The Metropolitan Opera under James Conlon. Next season, Kathleen returns to another signature role, Madame Mao, in performances of Nixon in China as her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by John Adams.
Having previously sung Angelina (La cenerentola) at the Festival, Elizabeth DeShong has an exciting season ahead, including Isabella (L’italiana in Algeri) at The Metropolitan Opera under James Levine, Adalgisa (Norma) for Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) for both the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, under Daniele Callegari and Sir Antonio Pappano respectively.
