David Zinman tours to Japan and South Korea with Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich
6/4/2014
David Zinman, long-term Music Director of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, leads the orchestra on their last major tour together before he steps down from the role later this year.
The orchestra, Zinman and guest soloist Gidon Kremer undertake an eight-concert tour of Japan and South Korea, performing repertoire most associated with the Tonhalle/Zinman partnership: Strauss, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms.
Beginning in Fukuoka on 11 April, the tour also takes in Nagoya (12), Osaka (13), Sapporo (15), Niigita (17) and Tokyo (18 & 19 April), before ending in Seoul on 21 April.
Credited with raising the international standing and profile of the orchestra throughout his tenure, Zinman increased the orchestra’s touring schedule, including regular appearances over the years at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh International Festival.
