Alina Pogostkina returns to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin on 7 December, as soloist in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. The all-Sibelius concert is conducted by David Zinman and celebrates the composer’s 150th birthday, ahead of the anniversary year in 2015. The programme also features the Pelléas et Mélisande Suite and Symphony No.2.
A renowned interpreter of the iconic concerto, Pogostkina won first prize in the 2005 Sibelius Competition. She performs the composer’s music several times during the anniversary season, including appearances with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Mikko Franck in April 2015.
