31/3/2017
Paul Appleby and Nathan Berg join the Bamberger Symphoniker and David Zinman for Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius on 7 & 8 April.
This will be Paul’s first appearance as Gerontius, adding to his already wealthy concert repertoire including recent performances of Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, Bruckner’s Te Deum, and Mozart’s Requiem. Paul next returns to Europe for his Festival d’Aix debut in the title role in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress under Daniel Harding in Simon McBurney’s new production.
A regular presence on the European concert stage, Nathan Berg has recently appeared with hr-Sinfonieorchester for Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 under Andrés Orozco-Estrada, with the Radio Filarmonisch Orkest singing Doktor in Wozzeck under Markus Stenz, and most recently in Monte-Carlo for Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis under Gianluigi Gelmetti. Nathan will cross the Atlantic again this summer for performances as The King in Handel’s Ariodante in Christoph Loy’s new production for the Salzburger Festspiele.
