Working the week in HarrisonParrott was great fun and really enlightening. Seeing the amount of work that goes into being and managing a professional musician was astounding, and it was a privilege to be able to work with a member of each department, who were very welcoming and supportive. Thank you for the week.”

I found my time working at HarrisonParrott and Birdsong a highly rewarding and inspiring opportunity. I was extremely well looked after by the team and was trained carefully in a range of areas such as Publishing, Artist Management, Composer Management and Marketing. Throughout my work experience, I was entrusted to complete numerous tasks and this responsibility made me really feel a part of the team. Working at HarrisonParrott has been a truly valuable experience and has allowed me to realise that I would love to pursue a career in composer/artist management.”

I absolutely loved my work experience with HarrisonParrott. Working in a very supportive and warm environment, was an invaluable insight into the operations of the music industry. The opportunity to discover and work with new and emerging artists was incredible. The experience has sparked my interest in different creative styles of music, which I have been fascinated to explore further. I am very grateful for the breadth of experience offered on my placement with HarrisonParrott.”

My work experience at HarrisonParrott was filled with opportunities, such as being a part of a recorded podcast, to learn about a lot of their artist and different departments. Each day was different and I had unique experiences. I can see the bond they have together as a company, and it was a fulfilling and valuable week to take part in for my work experience as I learned a lot.”

I absolutely loved working with HP. I was super nervous at first, as I had never done any kind of work experience outside of orchestral playing before, and so I think I accidentally arrived about half an hour early. Even so, a member of HP came to collect me from the lobby only a few minutes after I turned up. She was incredibly welcoming and made sure I knew my way around the building before I began working.

My first day was spent with Megan from Birdsong. I learnt SO MUCH about how the sector published social media content, and thoroughly enjoyed creating some stuff myself. It was a really welcoming environment, and everybody in the office was super friendly and always willing to help, even if I was just struggling with formatting a document or had forgotten where the kitchen was.

I also had the pleasure of working with Brooke in artist management, and ever since have genuinely been considering AM as a possible career. She got me involved in tons of different things, showed me lots about what goes on behind the scenes in an artist’s life, and also gave me the privilege of sitting in on an artist discussion meeting (which was really insightful). The skills she taught me in such a short space of time have proved extremely useful in my own life. I think lots of people go to some form of work experience so that they have something to put on their UCAS statement, but HP was a completely different experience from that. I actually learned some really useful skills, met some wonderful people and developed an interest in something which I had not previously considered as a possible career option.

The variety of work I got to do during my time at HP was brilliant. Social media, flight booking, hotel routes, scheduling, post designing, website designing, research gathering- the breadth of the experience was really fulfilling. Outside of more general skills, I am now much more comfortable using documenting programmes which has proved SO USEFUL as a student. Google Sheets is no longer something I’m petrified of, and the people I met at HP have shown me the joy of a well-organised spreadsheet.

I would very happily return to work with HP in the future; the work itself was informative and the people were an absolute delight to be around.”
