Tabita Berglund commences her four-year tenure as Principal Guest Conductor of Detroit Symphony Orchestra this week. Her inaugural concerts take place on 18, 19 and 20 October and feature Benjamin Britten’s evocative Four Sea Interludes and Sibelius’ Lemminkainen Suite, with fellow HarrisonParrott artist Pekka Kuusisto joining as soloist for the US premiere of Anna Clyne’s violin concerto Time and Tides. The concert on 18 October is live-broadcast on local radio station WRCJ and the performance on 19 October is live-webcast on the DSO’s website at 20:00 Eastern-time.
Berglund was appointed as DSO’s Principal Guest Conductor following her debut with the orchestra back in January 2023. She next returns to the United States in January 2025 for her subscription debut with the Houston Symphony.
