For his UK-debut Paweł Kapuła conducts Eino Tamberg’s Trumpet Concerto with soloist Matilda Lloyd and Ulster Orchestra at Ulster Hall on 23 February. The programme Northern Lights features Sibelius’ En Saga in which the composer creates rhythmic fireworks that mirrors the characteristics of the Tamberg concerto – it closes with Beethoven’s uplifting Symphony No.4 and is set to be recorded and broadcast later by BBC Radio 3.

Paweł Kapuła and Matilda Lloyd are working together again soon on Arutiunian’s vivid Concerto for Trumpet, preceded by Weinberg’s Polish Tunes and followed by Tchaikowsky’s monumental Symphony No.5. This programme will be performed in four concerts with Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz on 12, 13, 14 and 17 April.
