Acclaimed interpreter and long-time collaborator of composer Ligeti, Pierre-Laurent Aimard joins Susanna Mälkki and New York Philharmonic at the David Geffen Hall on 2, 3 and 4 November for performances featuring Ligeti’s seminal Piano Concerto alongside Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances. During Aimard’s visit to New York City, audiences can also see him give public masterclasses to the piano students of the Julliard School on 3 and 6 November. He is additionally featured in a late-night concert with Joachim Kühn on 4 November as part of New York Philharmonic’s “Kravis Nightcap” series. Following this, he travels to Montréal for a solo recital featuring the works of COMPSERS at Montréal’s Salle Bourgie on 5 November, before returning to the David Geffen Hall for a much-anticipated “artist spotlight” solo recital on 7 November featuring works by Ligeti, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy.
