Pierre-Laurent Aimard features in two concerts at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth in celebration of György Ligeti’s Centenary. In a lunchtime recital on 14 October, Aimard delves into the solo piano repertoire of his long-time friend and close collaborator and explores the intricacies of the composer’s Etudes, Musica Ricercata and Chromatische Phantaisie. A post-concert discussion with the artist is scheduled to follow, before an evening performance of Ligeti’s Piano Concerto with London Sinfonietta in a concert that also includes complementary works by Unsuk Chin and Nancarrow.
