On 15 September it was announced that Matilda Lloyd will be lending her support, voice and artistry to raise awareness of Brass for Africa’s vital work in using music as a tool for social change. Brass for Africa uses music to equip children, young people and their communities across Sub-Saharan Africa with the skills to fulfil their potential and thrive. Since 2009, the Charity has reached over 10,000 extremely marginalised children and young people with twice weekly Music and Life-Skills education programmes.

Praised as an​“eloquent trumpet soloist” (The Times), Matilda Lloyd captivates audiences with her artistry, communication, and musicality. Casta Diva, her debut album for Chandos Records was BBC Music Magazine’s Recording of the Month in June 2023, with a five-star review describing it as an​“album full of delights… Lloyd plays with intense expression and immense warmth.” Nominated by the Barbican Centre London and Konserthuset Stockholm, Matilda will be a European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) Rising Star for the 2024/25 season, performing on some of Europe’s most prestigious stages.

Matilda will also be visiting Africa early in 2024 to provide inspiration, technical training and performances to many African youth as they follow their own journey to becoming a brass musician.
