Timothy Ridout wins Young Artist Award at RPS Awards 2023

Violist Timothy Ridout has been awarded the RPS 2023 Award for Young Artist. This latest accolade gilds Timothy’s prolific chamber career alongside countless collaborations with prestigious orchestras such as BBC Symphony Orchestra and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, recognising both his myriad local accomplishments as well as his international presence. Devotees of the violist can tune into BBC Radio 3 at 19:00 BST on Monday 6 March for a programme dedicated to the RPS 2023 Awards, and see the ceremony as it happened on the Royal Philharmonic Society website from 9 March for a month.
Looking forward to the rest of the 2022/23 season, Timothy will perform at various festivals this summer including a debut at Lucerne Festival, make appearances with orchestras such as Musikkollegium Winterthur and Ulster Orchestra, and make his Australian debut with Musica Viva Australia, as well as continuing his work with the likes of Janine Jansen, Sean Shibe, Benjamin Grosvenor and Kian Soltani.
The RPS 2023 Young Artist Award is supported by Sir Simon and Victoria, and Lady Robey OBE.
Across the other categories, Susan Bullock’s heart breaking Judith, in Daisy Evans and Stephen Higgins re-imagining of Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle for Theatre of Sound Opera played to sold out audiences in London, and most recently Altanta, wins the Opera and Music Theatre Award.
