Pierre-Laurent Aimard returns to San Francisco Symphony and music director Esa-Pekka Salonen for multiple performances of Bartók’s Piano Concerto No.2 on 17, 18 and 19 February.

The critically acclaimed French pianist previously performed the Hungarian composer’s first and third piano concertos with the orchestra in June 2022, which together with No.2 complete a full cycle that will be released by Pentatone later in 2023. Aimard’s recording for Deutsche Grammophon of Bartók’s Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra – with Pierre Boulez and the London Symphony Orchestra – was nominated for a Grammy and hailed as a ​“jewel” by The Times.
