Pablo Heras-Casado returns to Wiener Staatsoper to conduct a new Monteverdi opera, after debuting last season with L’incoronazione di Poppea, which he also conducted in a revival earlier this season. Heras-Casado conducts 4 performances of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with Concentus Musicus Wien, between 11 and 18 June. With staging by Tom Norris, the cast includes Georg Nigl, as Orfeo; Slávka Zámecníková, as Euridice; Kate Lindsey, as Music / Hope, Christina Bock, as Messaggiera / Proserpina and Andrea Mastroni as Plutone.

Next season he returns to conclude Monteverdi’s Trilogy with Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, also with Concentus Musicus Wien.
