Stephen Hough makes his Concertgebouworkest debut
6/5/2022
Stephen Hough makes his debut with the Concertgebouworkest on 12 May, joining forces with Sir John Eliot Gardiner for three performances of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 in Amsterdam (12 and 13 May) and The Hague (15 May). The engagement marks his second collaboration with Eliot Gardiner, having performed the same concerto together with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in 2021.
It’s a busy month for Hough; after the third and final concert of his BBC Philharmonic Orchestra 2021/22 Artist-in-Residency on 20 May (Brahms’ Piano Concerto No.1 again, with conductor Jac van Steen) he returns to London’s Barbican Hall on 27 May to perform Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Alpesh Chauhan and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
