Daníel Bjarnason debuts with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra
7/2/2020
Daníel Bjarnason makes his conducting debut with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra with a concert on 13 February. He conducts a programme of Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and his own work, Blow Bright. Lukas Geniušas joins him and the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Piano No.1, and the concert concludes with Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances.
Born in Copenhagen, Bjarnason has a strong connection to Denmark not only personally but also on a musical level, as he wrote his first opera, Brothers, for the Danish National Opera in Aarhus. Premiered in August 2017 as part of the Aarhus – Culture Capital of Europe celebrations, it is based on the Susanne Bier film of the same name, and was directed by Kasper Holten.
