Sol Gabetta joins RPO on their Germany tour

Sol Gabetta joins forces with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Lionel Bringuier in January 2019 on a tour of Germany comprising six concerts at Rosengarten Mannheim (25 Jan), Philharmonie Essen (26 Jan), Elbphilharmonie Hamburg (28 Jan), Liederhalle Stuttgart (31 Jan), Konzerthaus Freiburg (2 Feb) and Alte Oper Frankfurt (3 Feb). Sol Gabetta performs one of her signature works — Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Her reading of this cello repertoire monolith was praised as ​“one of the best around” (Gramophone Magazine). Upon her BBC Proms debut with the English masterpiece at the First Night of the Proms in 2016, The Times commented:

“The superb soloist here, Sol Gabetta brought out the loneliness inherent in the music often hovering beautifully on the cusp between fragility and oblivion”

Gabetta released Elgar’s Cello Concerto in a live recording with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle on SONY in 2016.
