This season, Sol Gabetta is artiste étoile at the 2018 Lucerne Festival, where she gained international recognition following her debut performance with the Wiener Philharmoniker and Valery Gergiev upon winning the Crédit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2004. As part of her residency, Gabetta joins forces with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and François-Xavier Roth (28 August) to perform Martinů’s Cello Concerto No.1, reunite with Wiener Philharmoniker and Franz Welser-Möst (7 September) for Haydn’s Cello Concerto and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Marin Alsop (14 September) to perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto.
