Christoph Poppen returns to Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra
26/1/2018
Christoph Poppen returns to Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra teaming up with the Sitkovetsky Trio for two concerts at Concertgebouw Amsterdam to conduct Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano, Sibelius’ Finlandia and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.5 (3/5 February). This follows an eventful week being a jury member at Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s conducting competition and various masterclasses.
March brings a busy month for Christoph with Beethoven’s Triple Concerto at Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserlautern- where Christoph Poppen was Principal Conductor from 2007 to 2011 — with soloists Lena Neudauer, Xavier Philipps and François-Frédéric Guy conducting Lalo’s Overture to Le roi d’Ys and Brahms’ Symphony No.2 at Arsénal de Metz (23 March).
Continuing his close and highly successful relationship with Kölner Kammerorchester in his role as Principal Conductor, he will be conducting J.S. Bach’s St Matthew Passion at Kölner Philharmonie featuring soloists Benjamin Appl and Elisabeth Breuer (31 March).
