Stefan Asbury returns to NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and MDR Sinfonieorchester this November. 

In Hamburg, he conducts the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester on 1 November in a programme of Gérard Grisey’s Les espaces acoustiques, a work which Asbury has championed throughout his career and has also recorded on the Kairos label. In the second set of concerts in Erfurt and Leipzig on 10 – 11 November, Asbury conducts the MDR Sinfonieorchester in Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No.2 with violinist Valeriy Sokolov, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.11. This follows on from successful concerts with the MDR Sinfonieorchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien last season. 

Upcoming plans this season include concerts with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (conducting the Grisey) as well as his debut with the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
