Hailed as one of the most exciting Mozart conductors of today, Constantinos Carydis returns to Bayerische Staatsoper to lead Christof Loy’s new production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Bloomberg News heralded his quality of “combining manic energy with perfectionism and a profound sense of lyrical beauty” in Mozart’s music. The opera opens on 26 October with performances on 28 and 31 October, and 4, 7 and 10 November. Baritone Christian Gerhaher sings the role of Conte Almaviva and Anne Sofie Von Otter sings her first Marcellina.
Constantinos Carydis is a regular guest at the Bayerische Staatsoper. He conducted an acclaimed new staging in 2011 of Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann starring Diana Damrau and Rolando Villazón, and productions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande amongst others.
