Krzysztof Penderecki conducts Penderecki in South America

Krzysztof Penderecki tours South America this September, conducting five concerts across Colombia, Brazil and Peru. Following his acclaimed performance at the V Festival Internacional de Música Sacra de Bogotá last September, he makes a welcome return to this year’s Festival, performing with the Filarmónica de Bogotá Chamber Orchestra on 5 September, and then in Medellín with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín on 8 September. In São Paulo he conducts the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo on 14, 15 and 16 September; the final concert is in Lima with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional del Perú on 22 September.
The programme include his own compositions O Gloriosa Virginum, Ciaccona, Serenade for String Orchestra, Hymne an den heiligen Daniel,and his Symphonies No.2 and 4 – now considered masterworks of 20th-century music. In São Paulo he is joined by the internationally acclaimed violinist Isabelle Faust for performances of Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No.1.
