Víkingur Ólafsson signs to Deutsche Grammophon

Víkingur Ólafsson and Deutsche Grammophon have announced an exclusive recording collaboration.
Described by The New York Times as a “splendid pianist” Víkingur’s debut recording project with Deutsche Grammophon is a selection of Philip Glass’ Piano Etudes. Recorded at Reykjavík’s Harpa concert hall, the album is set for release in late January 2017 to coincide with the composer’s 80th birthday. Watch the trailer for the new album.

Víkingur’s forthcoming highlights include performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Esa-Pekka Salonen, a concert series with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under Yan Pascal Tortelier, and his solo recital debuts at Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Hamburg’s newly inaugurated Elbphilharmonie.
