This week Víkingur Ólafsson makes his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as part of the Reykjavik Festival.

On 14 April, under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen, Víkingur gives the US premiere of Haukur Tómasson’s Piano Concerto No.2, commissioned by NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Los Angeles Philharmonic. 

He already gave the world premiere of this piece earlier this year in Hamburg as part of the Elbphilharmonie’s Festival ​‘Into Iceland’ on 10 and 11 February.

Víkingur then continues to Gothenburg for a concert with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra playing Strauss’ Burleske for Piano and Orchestraon 19 April.
