This week, two of our leading Wagnerians, Christopher Ventris and Stephen Milling, debut at Teatro Colón in Marcelo Lombardero’s new production of Parsifal. Alejo Pérez conducts the run of performances which open on 4 December.

One of Britain’s most successful tenors, Parsifal has been something of a signature role in Christopher Ventris’ career and also marked his Bayreuther Festspiele debut. Christopher will return to Bayreuth this season as Siegmund (Die Walküre), which he also sings at Wiener Staatsoper and with Washington National Opera, before reviving his highly-acclaimed interpretation of Peter Grimes at Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Danish bass Stephen Milling made a critically acclaimed debut as Hagen (Götterdämmerung) at the 2015 Bayreuther Festspiele and will return to the Festspielhaus in the summer of 2016. Reprising another of his famous roles this season, Stephen returns to Baden-Baden and Berlin as König Marke (Tristan und Isolde) under Sir Simon Rattle, and appears as Herrmann (Tannhäuser) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) at the Wiener Staatsoper, and King Philippe II (Don Carlos) for Opéra national du Rhin.
