This week, leading international soprano Catherine Naglestad makes her role debut as Cassandre in Michael Thalheimer’s new production of Les Troyens for Staatsoper Hamburg. Conducted by Kent Nagano, performances run from 19 September to 14 October, with a brief revival next summer.
Continually embracing new challenges, Naglestad recently expanded her repertoire to include Puccini’s heroine Minnie (La fanciulla del West) to unanimous critical acclaim with further role debuts lined up for the coming seasons. Recognised for striking dramatic portrayals, Catherine Naglestad returns this season to Deutsche Oper Berlin as Salome, Opernhaus Zürich as Tosca and Bayerische Staatsoper as Senta (Der fliegende Holländer) as well as concert appearances in Britten’s War Requiem and Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder.
