With a career spanning over three decades, tenor Kim Begley has been acclaimed for many of his operatic roles, but Strauss’ Herod (Salome) has been one of his most recent successes. Appearing on DVD in productions of Salome from The Metropolitan Opera and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Kim Begley now makes his debut at Teatro di San Carlo, Naples in Manfred Schweigkofler’s production of the opera. Conducted by Gabriele Ferro, the performances open on 15 and run through 26 November.
A diverse artist and former actor, Begley’s current season sees a reprise of the role of Loge (Das Rheingold), a frequently performed character throughout his career, in concert with the Hong Kong Philharmonic under Jaap van Zweden. He also returns to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Edrisi in Kasper Holten’s new production of Król Roger under Sir Antonio Pappano.
