Case Scaglione conducts subscription concerts with the New York Philharmonic
7/11/2014
This week Case Scaglione takes up the baton with the New York Philharmonic to conduct five subscription concerts (12 – 15 & 18 November). The programme includes Debussy’s Prélude à L’après-midi d’un faune, Glazunov’s Violin Concerto with soloist Joshua Bell, and Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5 — a work which Scaglione received notable critical acclaim with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra last month.
Scaglione is the orchestra’s Associate Conductor, a position that was revived especially for him by Music Director Alan Gilbert. He began his tenure with the orchestra in 2011 and made his subscription debut in November 2012, stepping in for Kurt Masur.
Later this season, Scaglione guest conducts the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for subscription concerts as well as performances for the orchestra’s ReMix series, and earlier this year conducted a very successful concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
