Xian Zhang debuts with Teatro alla Scala
3/10/2014
Xian Zhang makes her company debut with Teatro alla Scala conducting Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, in a production featuring Kenneth MacMillan’s iconic choreography. Opening on 10 October, performances run until 23 October.
No stranger to Milan, Xian Zhang has been Music Director of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi since 2009 and has appeared at La Scala with her own orchestra each year. She recently closed her 2013/14 season in a hugely successful debut for Welsh National Opera conducting Verdi’s Nabucco, both in Cardiff and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
Future highlights in the opera pit include a return to English National Opera in autumn 2015 and her debut with Den Norske Opera in January 2016.
