Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Michael Barenboim appear with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra
26/9/2014
Santtu-Matias Rouvali returns to the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra to conduct an all-Prokofiev programme, including Violin Concerto No.2 featuring soloist Michael Barenboim in his debut with the orchestra.
The concerts, on 4 & 5 October, open with Symphony No.1 and end with Rouvali’s own selection from Romeo and Juliet.
Rouvali will conduct the same selection from Romeo and Juliet when he makes his London debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra in December. His season also features debuts with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker and BBC Symphony Orchestra, and returns to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and Finnish Radio Symphony orchestras.
Further season highlights for Barenboim include concerto debuts with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, hr-Sinfonieorchester, and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks with Mariss Jansons.
