Marking the beginning of his residency with the Mariinsky Theatre, Alexei Volodin performs a recital in the Mariinsky Concert Hall to open their 2014/15 concert season on 27 September. The programme features works by Scarlatti, Prokofiev, Medtner, Chopin and Schumann.

Further appearances in St Petersburg this season include performances of Chopin’s Piano Concertos and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev, and Dvořák’s and Brahms’ Piano Quintets with the Borodin Quartet. Alexei also joins Gergiev on the conductor’s Prokofiev Piano Concertos Marathon project, which includes performances in Dortmund, Vienna and Stockholm – a tour that also involves pianist Behzod Abduraimov.
