Leila Josefowicz returns to London for two concerts at the Barbican.
On 26 March she gives the UK premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sakari Oramo. The programme also features Sibelius’ Pohjola’s Daughter and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5.
The following evening Josefowicz gives a recital of works by Schubert, Stravinsky and Kurtág with pianist John Novacek at the Centre’s Milton Court Concert Hall. The duo performs Schubert’s Sonata in A and Rondo in B minor, Stravinsky’s Duo Concertante and Chanson Russe, and Gyorgy Kurtág’s Tre Pezzi.
The dates follow Josefowicz’s successful appearance earlier in the week with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Oliver Knussen, in Berg’s Chamber Concerto.
