Baritone Roderick Williams and pianist Christopher Glynn premiere a new song cycle by Freya Waley-Cohen entitled the moon, the moss & the mushrooms at Two Moors Festival on 3 October. The work sets texts by Coleridge and others exploring the folklore of Exmoor, where the festival takes place. The concert also includes works by John Ireland, Rebecca Clarke and Ivor Gurney, as well as Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel. Waley-Cohen’s song cycle receives further performances in the 2025/26 season at Shipston Song and Music in the Round, which commissioned the work jointly with Two Moors Festival.
