Aziz Shokhakimov makes his debut with Orchestre de Paris in two concerts on the 16 and 17 October. He conducts a varied programme, beginning with Dvořák’s seldom performed tone poem The Noon-Day Witch.

He is then joined by Gautier Capuçon for the French premiere of Thierry Escaich’s Cello Concerto No.2, Les Chants de l’aube. The work was written for Capuçon, who gave its world premiere last year. The programme culminates in Shostakovich’s resoundingly evocative Symphony No.5.
