Maxime Pascal has won the Austrian Music Theatre Prize 2024 for Best Musical Director for his work on the production of Greek Passion by Bohuslav Martinů at the Salzburg Festspiele 2023. The themes that inspired composer Martinů seventy years ago to adapt Nikos Kazantzakis’ novel into an opera still resonate with us today: refugees, a divided society, and the tragic escalation into violence.
