Shenyang returns to LA Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel to reprise the role of Don Pizarro in concert productions of Fidelio. Collaborating with the acclaimed group Deaf West, each role is performed by one singer and one deaf actor. The hearing-impaired Venezuelan choir — White Hands — takes on the role of the chorus, interpreting the music through expressive gestures and sign language.

Performances take place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on 16 and 17 May before touring to Europe, where the first stop is the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona on 26 and 27 May, followed by the Philharmonie de Paris on 31 May and finally at the Barbican Centre in London on 3 June.
