Pierre-Laurent Aimard on tour in China & Japan
17/11/2023
Acclaimed French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard was recently described as “one of the great pianists of the last 40 years and probably the single finest Ligeti player there is”. This was in reaction to his arresting programme that combines the works of Ligeti, Beethoven, and Chopin, a performance which he brings later this month to China, where he appears onstage at the NCPA Beijing on 24 November, Shaanxi Performing Arts Centre on 26 November, and Shanghai Symphony Hall on 28 November. He then continues to Japan with a different but equally masterful recital programme of Schubert, J. S. Bach and Kurtág at Yamaha Ginza Hall on 1 December, before joining the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and Sylvain Cambreling to perform György Ligeti’s Piano Concerto at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall on 5 December.
