In this intimate recital programme inspired by the later and less documented years of famed Swedish singer Jenny Lind’s career, Camilla Tilling takes us on a touching and witty journey through Jenny’s life, loves and friendships as she swapped the opera stage for the concert hall. Jenny’s love and talent for art song and Lieder inspired musical collaboration as well as deep and lasting friendships with Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Robert and Clara Schumann, and it is these composers who feature in ‘Swedish Nightingale’.
The recipient of the Jenny Lind scholarship at age 24, the life and work of Jenny Lind holds personal significance for Swedish soprano Camilla Tilling who, in 2020, began curating this programme in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Jenny Lind.
Camilla and Emanuel present ‘Swedish Nightingale’ on 25 October with Performance Santa Fe, on 29 October with Capital Region Classical and on 31 October at the Isabel Bader Centre, Kingston.
