With two concerts on 12 and 14 October at the Maison symphonique de Montréal, Roderick Cox celebrates his Canadian debut leading Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal in a programme of Tchaikovsky’s The Tempest, Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony and Barber’s Violin Concerto with the charismatic Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot.
He then makes another debut conducting NAC Orchestra in Ottawa on 25 and 26 October at the National Arts Centre in a programme featuring Mozart’s spirit-lifting Rondo and Faure’s dreamlike Ballade for Piano and Orchestra with Louis Lortie, and Beethoven’s timeless Symphony No.3. The programme is opened by African British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade.
