At Macau International Music Festival, Hongni Wu makes her debut as Rosina and Xiaomeng Zhang returns to Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Lio Kuokman. The production, co-created by Royal Danish Opera and director Martin Lyngbo, transports the audience to the set of a black-and-white silent film from the early 20th century. The three performances take place at Macao Cultural Centre Square on 6, 7 and 8 October.
Hongni Wu returns to Rosina later this season at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis under Jonathan Brandani, before heading to Opera Royal de Wallonie to reprise Kuchtik under Giampaolo Bisanti, a role she first sang last season at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden where she returns later this season as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, conducted by Kevin John Edusei.
Xiaomeng Zhang returns to Opernhaus Zürich this season, in his role debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte conducted by Riccardo Minasi and as Donner in Das Rheingold under the baton of general music director Gianandrea Noseda.
