Chinese baritone Xiaomeng Zhang makes his debut at Opéra de Paris as Chou En-Lai in a new production of Nixon in China on 25 March. John Adams’ opera, performed here for the first time at the Paris Opera, tells the story of US President Richard Nixon’s historic 1972 meeting with Mao Tse-Tung. With a superstar cast including Thomas Hampson and Renée Fleming and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, the Valentina Carrasco production runs at Opéra Bastille until 16 April.
