Alban Gerhardt leads Alliage Quintett on their latest album, Phantasy in Blue, a spirited and imaginative medley of orchestral and cello classics, arranged for solo cello, saxophone quartet and piano. Alban brings his insatiable artistic curiosity to a selection of works by Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi, de Falla, Shostakovich and Gershwin, painted in timbres that bring a whole new side to each work. Fans and curious listeners alike can see the ensemble perform together later this year at Beethovenfest in Bonn on 9 September. Phantasy in Blue is released on the Hyperion Records label.
