TABITA BERGLUND MAKES MADRID DEBUT AND RETURNS TO THE HALLÉ

Conductor Tabita Berglund makes her Madrid debut with Orquesta Sinfonica de RTVE on 24 March. Berglund and the orchestra are joined by Pedro Bonet for Elgar’s Cello Concerto. The programme also comprises of the Prelude, Suite 1 and Suite 2 from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, and opens with Monrad Johansen’s Pan. The performance will be broadcast live on radio by RTVE, the Spanish national broadcasting network.
Later in March, Berglund will return to the Hallé for six performances, touring around the Northern UK. The tour begins with three concerts at the orchestra’s home, the Bridgewater Hall, in Manchester on 26–30 March where Berglund is joined by pianist Håvard Gimse to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 (Emperor). The programme also includes Dobrinka Tabakova’s Fantasy Homage to Schubert, followed by Schubert’s Symphony No.8 (Unfinished).
Berglund is then joined by cellist Jakob Koranyi for the remaining three performances, where they are performing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto. Two of these performances take place on 31 March at Stoke-on-Trent and on 2 April in Blackburn where the orchestra also performs Grieg’s Symphonic Dance No.4 and Sibelius’ Symphony No.5. The tour also travels to Nottingham, where the programme includes Dobrinka Tabakova’s Fantasy Homage to Schubert and Sibelius’ Symphony No.5 on 1 April.
