Patricia Kopatchinskaja performs a new special collage-like concert programme at Kultur und Kongresszentrum Luzern KKL on 19 November as part of the Lucerne Forward Festival joining forces with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra.

The new project is entitled In search of a lost melody and is built around a folksong-like melody that spans through in György Ligeti’s work like an idée fixe reminding us of biographical events that shaped Ligeti’s life and work most, such as the WWII and the Holocaust. Ligeti’s Melody appears in the Concerto for Violin, Musica Ricercata, Horn Trio and Six Bagatelles for Wind Quintet, which are being performed at the concert. The evening’s programme also includes world premieres of four works by Yu Kuwabara, Anton Koshlev, Laurence Dunn and Alessandro Baticci that Ligeti’s Melody has set the ground for.
